Candy-Ass Records – started by Jody from Team Dresch, Josh from the Surf Maggots and Marty Smith, Portland’s own Dr. Know – was the powerhouse that brought the world the Free To Fight double record, which included real and necessary stories of all-too-common sexual assault and violence against women and queers but combined these narratives with Self Defense lessons, workouts and tools. But Candy-Ass didn’t start or stop there, this label brought releases from Team Dresch (co-released with Chainsaw Records), Ovarian Trolley, Surf Maggots, New Bad Things, Thirty Ought Six (newly remastered and reissued), and legendary Portland band, Hazel. These records lead the way to form the iconic pacific northwest sound of the 90s! Candyass Records serves us punk rock on a silver platter & we EAT IT UP.
